Nach 10 Steuererhöhungen in den letzten Jahren wird auch bei der diesjährigen Steuerreform das Auto weiter belastet. Im Begutachtungsentwurf sind weitere Verschlechterungen enthalten. Aus diesem Grund wurde gemeinsam mit dem Arbeitskreis der Automobilimporteure, den Autofahrerclubs und dem Bundesgremium des Fahrzeughandels ein offener Brief an Bundeskanzler, Vizekanzler und Finanzminister gerichtet.

Die Automobilwirtschaft entwickelt hochinnovative Technologien und Produkte, um die Dekarbonisierung des Verkehrssektors zu bewältigen und leistet als Leitbranche mit hoher Exportquote einen essenziellen Beitrag zum Wohlstand der Österreicher und Österreicherinnen. Das Auto ist für einen großen Teil der Bevölkerung unverzichtbarer Bestandteil des Alltags, 60 Prozent der Erwerbstätigen pendeln mit dem Auto zur Arbeit. Um diese wichtigen Funktionen weiter erfüllen zu können, richtet die Automobilwirtschaft einen Appell an die künftige Bundesregierung. Schließlich sieht sich die Branche vor enormen Herausforderungen, die vom Umstieg auf alternative Antriebe bis hin zu neuen Vertriebskonzepten in einem sich verändernden Umfeld reichen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei fünf zentrale Forderungen:
